Our Year in Review 2025-2026
With our clocks changed, the end of the year is racing towards us. So we’ve reflected on the financial year just ended and produced Our Year in Review 2025-2026. This web feature was introduced last year as a more fulsome way of sharing with our stakeholders some of the key highlights and achievements from across NZ On Air.
This is not our Annual Report – it’s better! (The Annual Report produced for Parliament will be tabled in a month or so.) Our Year in Review is instead a web feature with a snapshot of our performance, as well as case studies that demonstrate successes and celebrate the excellent content funded throughout the past year.
So please do take a moment (or two) to read Our Year in Review 2025-2026.
And we’d also like to give a special thank you to all the content creators and platforms we worked with to bring all this excellent content to audiences here and across the globe.
Welcome to Te Pae Matarau
Recently funded productions currently going through contracting will notice a new clause regarding the industry workforce data initiative Te Pae Matarau – The Everyone Project Aotearoa.
In short, productions funded by NZ On Air, Te Māngai Pāho and the NZ Film Commission are now required to register with Te Pae Matarau and encourage their cast and crew to complete a (very short) survey. This survey collects anonymous workforce data to help inform future policy, research, advocacy and funding decisions across the sector. (If you were at Big Screen Symposium this year you may have seen the project launched there.)

We are very excited to see that the first contracted projects have already registered with Te Pae Matarau and their cast and crew have been completing the survey! (We can’t see their survey responses – we just see the number of people who’ve completed it.) Ka pai!
