A note from the CE

Budget 2022

With so much to absorb from yesterday's Budget news you may have missed the news that NZ On Air's budget for the 2022/23 year is unchanged. NZ On Air remains committed to delivering great local public media content for New Zealanders on a range of platforms.

The Budget news provides some certainty around the new funding arrangements for the Public Media Entity. With no change in the next financial year for NZ On Air, our agency has time to review our investment strategies to ensure they are fit-for-purpose within the new public media environment from 2023. We will be focused on ensuring the NZ Media Fund continues to be able to achieve the greatest impact possible for local audiences.

Funding of Being Chlöe

You may have also noticed criticism regarding our decision to grant funding to an observational documentary Being Chlöe. We've moved quickly to pull together information for release and have released this today to ensure factual information is in the public domain.

We stand by the funding decision and would encourage you to read the statement here and the document release here.
