The Funding Guidelines for Round Tahi are now available on the funding page of our website.

As noted in our newsletter last week, this is a complex time of major upheaval in our media ecosystem. So we have focused on this as we crafted these Guidelines and worked to ensure our funding is utilised in the best possible way – to address the current landscape, and focus on providing the highest impact and production sector support possible while also delivering outcomes for audiences.

What are we focusing on in Round Tahi?
The priorities for Round Tahi will be on:

  • Those seeking gap financing through the NZ Screen Production Rebate (NZSPR) - our aim is to support projects that offer public media value alongside scale and employment opportunities.
  • We also invite projects catering to both Priority and General Audiences. However, precedence will be given to projects targeting General Audiences in this round.
  • We will also consider Non-Fiction and Scripted applications (including children’s content) as well as applications for content development.

All submitted projects are required to have confirmed local platform support, and we will give priority to projects that have a clear and considered distribution plan for audience reach.

Round Tahi Webinar
The Zoom webinar for Round Tahi is also taking place tomorrow, Tuesday 19 March from 3-4pm. This will be hosted by the NZ On Air funding team and is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about Round Tahi. If you have not yet registered, email funding@nzonair.govt.nz and we will forward you the Zoom details.

Updates to our guidelines around the New Zealand Screen Production Rebate
Following the 2023 review of the NZ Screen Production Grant (NZSPG), significant changes occurred, including its rebranding as the New Zealand Screen Production Rebate (NZSPR).
NZ On Air is now capable of providing funding to all categories of screen productions applying for the NZSPR. Please read our NZSPR guidelines document carefully to understand our priorities and requirements.
