One-size does not fit all for NZ audiences
The media behaviours of New Zealand audiences show striking differences based on ethnicity and age.
New sub-reports created from the 2026 Where Are The Audiences? research shine a light on the differences between Māori, Pacific peoples, Asian peoples, Youth and the general population.
The general population Where Are The Audiences? report released last week showed a steadying audience after a number of years of rapid change, including declining global streaming consumption, and a small rise in free media – Total TV (NZ Linear and On Demand) and linear TV.
Today we have released the four sub-reports created for us this year by Verian. These reports allow us to dive deeper into Māori, Pacific, Asian and Youth audiences. Understanding what platforms and services these audiences are using and their content preferences helps NZ On Air to ensure public funding is well-targeted.
The four sub-reports can be found here.
