NZ On Air and Te Māngai Pāho round information

Te Māngai Pāho and NZ On Air are joining forces once again with a co-fund round for receptive and/or fluent Māori language content made to appeal to a broad audience.

Read the full NZ On Air and Te Māngai Pāho round information here.

Te Māngai Pāho and NZ On Air seek proposals for the creation of either Receptive (20-70%) and / or Fluent (70-100%) Te reo Māori content for general audiences, distributed via established platforms, or platforms that have an established audience relevant to the idea.

Whether your idea is receptive or fluent, we are looking for ideas that strongly convey a Māori world view – content that highlights the beauty of te ao Māori and te reo Māori on screen.

Information for funding applicants - Content Development and Industry Development Fund

The information for producers intending to make a Content Development or Industry Development application to the January - April 2023 round is now available. General Scripted and Factual applications are not being accepted for this round.

Read the full January - April 2023 Content Development and Industry Development Fund round information here.

Funding round priorities

The January - April round is only open to Content Development and Industry Development applications. However, funding for both streams is limited and applications will have to reach a high bar to be successful. Please see the Development Roadmap. For information on other upcoming rounds, see paragraph F of the full round information.

  • Newer Storytellers and Sustainable content development applications, that don’t require a platform to be attached, and platform-supported development applications, will be considered in this round, but it is likely that only up to four applications can be funded out of the remaining annual budget.
  • Factual content development applications will only be accepted for projects that require significant research. There is limited pūtea remaining in the Factual development budget and we encourage applications to have co-funding attached from a supporting platform.
  • Industry Development Fund: To this round we are accepting applications to all three strands of our Industry Development Fund: Professional Development, National Conferences and National Awards. If you have a new IDF initiative, please discuss this with glenn@nzonair.govt.nz before applying. You can see more information here.

Statement regarding Sis The Show

Some of you may be aware of a contractual dispute involving the producers of Sis The Show. We have been following a formal process to deal with this, and acting prudently as stewards of taxpayer funds.

We have been trying to deal with the matter as privately as possible, in good faith. However we now feel it is important to ensure our stakeholders have an understanding of what’s happened and how we are responding.

Please see our statement on our website here.

NZ On Air funding portal upgrade

Last night we made a few upgrades to our funding portal, which means that when you next log in you'll notice the following changes:

  • We've enabled multiple users to be connected to one account. This means that a number of staff from one company or key personnel collaborating on a project can each access applications, forms and information in the funding portal.
  • We've given the portal a fresh look, bringing it line with our NZ On Air branding and colours.
  • Keeping your data safe is a priority so we have provided the ability to turn on two factor authentication for extra protection.

Users will still have access to existing user details, previous applications and historical information.

What do you need to do?

The upgraded version of the NZ On Air funding portal is available now. Once you're logged in you will be given a short tour of the changes to the funding portal.

To help you get familiar with the key changes to your dashboard, we've also created an NZ On Air funding portal tour guide.

Once you have become familiar with your dashboard, you can enable two-factor authentication to strengthen the security of your sign-in details by going into your individual profile. In your individual profile, you can update your contact information and also manage your email notification preferences.

As mentioned above, the portal now allows a company to add multiple users to the account. Both key staff and collaborators can have their own access to the company account. Users are managed by the company (or account manager) and can be added or removed as required. NZ On Air cannot add or remove users to your company account on your behalf - this feature is self-managing by each account holder.

Download this guide to view the steps to enable two-factor authentication and adding more users.
