Managing the impacts of Covid-19

Like all organisations in New Zealand at this time, we are preparing for and managing the impacts of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) on our organisation, staff and the businesses and creatives we provide funding for. We wanted to let you know what we have in place currently. As it is a very fluid situation we will adapt our approach as and when its necessary and let you know.

NZ On Air operations

It is mostly business at usual here at present. We have a robust Business Continuity Plan, which will ensure that we can keep considering funding applications and distributing funding throughout any more widespread outbreak. Our staff are able to work remotely if need be, but at present we are all still happily at work in our offices in Auckland and Wellington.

We will be limiting travel for the moment - so will be relying on technology to allow us to undertake virtual meetings when we can.
With our new CEO Cameron Harland starting tomorrow we have had many requests for meetings with him, or for him to attend events. He will be following best practice in the circumstances, and looks forward to meeting those of you he can, in the near future.

Funded content in production

First and foremost, please follow the appropriate advice from the Ministry of Health to keep your workforce safe and healthy. SPADA has some useful information on their website.

Producers should get in touch with us if you have a Covid-19 case/suspected case to report under the Health and Safety requirements of your contract.

You should also get in touch with us if your project is likely to experience delays or if you need flexibility around drawdowns. We will consider each situation on a case by case basis. Our ultimate goal is to ensure funded projects are able to be completed safely and enjoyed by New Zealand audiences.

Please contact the Funding Team if you have any concerns. We are here to help.

Funded providers

It's the same advice as above - please get in touch if you have any problems or concerns. We will discuss with you the appropriate actions to ensure you can continue to provide your essential public media services.

Funded Music

Firstly, while totally understandable, we are gutted that Homegrown has had to be postponed. It is the best celebration of NZ music and such a wonderful showcase. We await word on whether it can take place at a later date.

If you currently have a NZ On Air funded track/album/EP in production and are experiencing any impact on delivery please get in touch with the Music team so that we can see what we can do to help.

Please, everyone, while there are restrictions on gatherings affecting the ability of our talented musicians to earn essential income from live gigs - get online and stream or buy their music or purchase merchandise!

Keep calm (wash your hands) and carry on!

Finally, let's remember that what we do is important. The public media content and music created by all of you is a vital contributor to national identity and individual well-being.

Take good care of your own health and those around you, and keep in touch with us through all the usual channels. (And if you do end up at home for an extended period take the time to enjoy the excellent local stories and songs available to you!)
