RNZ/NZ On Air Innovation Fund - March 15th commemorative RFP

NZ On Air and RNZ are seeking proposals for media projects that will commemorate the one year anniversary of the March 15 mosque terror attacks.

Up to $300,000 has been allocated towards creative content that will honour the victims and their families.

While the attacks are still very fresh in our memories, the coming months will be a journey for all directly and indirectly affected, as we reflect on how our nation has responded to the events and consider how this will shape our shared futures.

Projects driven by members of New Zealand’s Muslim communities are strongly encouraged.

We are open to projects of any genre or format (Factual or Scripted), and envisage at least one project will include strong video elements.

The content will be for primary distribution on RNZ and secondary platform partnerships are welcome.

Projects will need to be fully delivered by March 1st 2020.

Vale Pua Magasiva

The recent death of Pua Magasiva has deeply shocked and affected many in New Zealand's acting and radio community, including us at NZ On Air.

Pua's contribution to the film and television industry has left a lasting mark on the hearts of many New Zealanders. After starting on Shortland Street, Pua starred in Sione's Weddingand Power Rangers before working as a DJ for Flava FM.

Mental health is an important issue in our creative communities and where we can we support content that helps create kōrero and provide help around these issues. We tautoko Mike King, in particular, and his radio series The Nutters Club.

Please take care of yourselves, reach out to your loved ones and seek help when you need.

Captions arrive on HEIHEI

Closed captions are now available on HEIHEI, NZ On Air and TVNZ's ad-free children's media platform.

From this week, the majority of the platform’s local content, as well as a selection of international titles, will carry closed captions, making programmes more accessible for tamariki and their parents.

Have you visited HEIHEI yet? Give it a go here.

May 30th also marks the first deadline for our HEIHEI-only content funding round. Producers intending to make a content funding application for which HEIHEI is the only platform will need to submit their two-page pitches by May 30th in order to be short-listed to apply for the August round.
