We’re looking for a detail-driven, creative, and people-focused Programme Coordinator to join NZ On Air’s Game Development Sector Rebate (GDSR) team. This is a dynamic, full-time role supporting New Zealand’s fast-growing video games industry - working alongside a world-class community of studios, from rising independents to long-standing industry veterans.
The GDSR is helping local game studios scale up, hire new talent and take their stories to the world. As the number of recipients and enquiries grows, we’re ensuring our team can continue delivering the support this sector needs.
In this role, you’ll coordinate and support the delivery of the GDSR programme, working together with our Programme Director and Programme Manager to help manage applications, streamline processes, and communicate with studios and stakeholders, all while contributing to the ongoing evolution of one of the most exciting creative funding initiatives in Aotearoa.
You’ll also play a key role in industry engagement and organisation - from coordinating events and webinars, to working with sector partners. It’s a meaningful, people-focused role that blends practical coordination with creative collaboration to help grow and strengthen Aotearoa’s games ecosystem.
What you’ll do in this role
- Communicate directly with studios across New Zealand, providing friendly, knowledgeable guidance on eligibility criteria, application processes and support.
- Coordinate day-to-day GDSR operations, supporting the application and assessment process, and helping refine systems, records, and templates.
- Stay connected with local games studios and share news with the team proactively for use in highlighting stories and communication to the industry.
- Keep our systems humming: tracking accreditation, maintaining documentation, and following up with applicants on audits and compliance.
- Support the team with the preparation of reports, data summaries, and briefings for MBIE, NZ On Air’s Board and industry partners.
- Assist in the collaboration with industry partners such as the NZ Game Developers Association, the Centre of Digital Excellence (CODE), the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), and NZ Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) to share insights and collaborate on initiatives that champion New Zealand’s games industry.
- Support NZ On Air’s presence at events and webinars, raising the profile of the GDSR and building stronger connections across the local and international games industry.
- Contribute to research and data initiatives, including industry surveys, data tracking and sector insights reporting.
- Occasionally, apply your expertise to assist other teams and projects across NZ On Air.
- Ensure all health, safety and wellness policies, practices and initiatives are adhered to.
Perfect for someone who
- Has strong organisational, analytical and communication skills.
- Enjoys rolling up their sleeves and playing a diverse support role - you love a good spreadsheet as much as a good conversation.
- Enjoys balancing structured processes with creative problem-solving.
- Having had exposure to programme coordination, analytics, marketing, communications, or similar roles would be an advantage.
- Is enthusiastic about videogames, tech, or creative industries and wants to help Aotearoa’s studios thrive.
- Is comfortable working independently, but also thrives in a supportive, collaborative environment.
What we can offer you
- A skilled, and enthusiastic team who value creativity, collaboration and good humour.
- Development opportunities for conferences, workshops and online learning - we’re big believers in career growth.
- Regular one-on-one support and goal setting to help you thrive in your role.
- Team lunches, outings and opportunities to attend the creative industry events we support.
- Flexible work arrangements, including optional work-from-home days and flexible hours (i.e. school-hour schedules).
- Optional te reo Māori lessons and annual Te Tiriti training to support cultural capability and confidence.
- A bright, central Wellington office surrounded by some of the city’s best cafés - perfect for lunch breaks or post-work catch-ups.
If you are passionate about the gaming industry and possess strong organisational skills, we want to hear from you!
NZ On Air welcomes applications from all individuals, regardless of background, and values diversity. Please note, however, that you must be legally able to work in New Zealand.
