If you’ve worked in radio/audio, screen or creative production and want to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

We are seeking a Funding Advisor to join our Funding Team and help deliver NZ On Air’s investment strategy.

This role champions public media by making meaningful funding decisions that bring Aotearoa New Zealand stories to life. It involves assessing applications and recommending investments that celebrate our culture and identity while applying creative and critical thinking to evaluate proposals for originality, audience impact and cultural relevance.

This position supports content creators through NZ On Air’s funding processes, helping them navigate application criteria and priorities. Building strong relationships is central, connecting with creators, broadcasters, platforms and communities, and being the friendly face of NZ On Air in the sector.

Collaboration is key, working alongside a passionate team committed to storytelling, equity and innovation.

What you’ll bring

- Experience in radio, podcasting or creative production, especially if you’ve worked with diverse communities or public media platforms (e.g., Access Radio, Pacific Media Network, Samoa Capital Radio, Student Radio Network).

- A love for storytelling and a belief in the power of public media to connect and inspire.

- Great communication skills and cultural awareness – you’ll know how to listen, learn and engage authentically. You’ll be a strong writer with a knack for writing clear, compelling funding papers that reflect fair judgement and smart, strategic thinking.

- A collaborative mindset - you’re keen to share ideas, support others and grow together.

- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to promoting te reo Māōri and Pacific languages and culture. If you can speak a Pacific language, it would be an advantage.

Why join us?
