KIDOGO is an exciting new home for local children's stories and songs on the platform they use the most, YouTube and YouTube Kids.

It's a safe, easy place for children and their caregivers to access age-appropriate local kids’ content, on a platform they are already using.

KIDOGO - a response to changing viewing habits

Our latest audience research, Where Are The Audiences - Children's Media Use 2025 highlighted the challenges connecting young New Zealanders to local content today. More children spend time daily on YouTube than any other platform. But it's really hard to find local content amongst the plethora of global offerings.

Only 50% of our tamariki are engaging with local content at all - and 43% of parents and caregivers say they don't know where to find it. But parents also value local content and would like their children engaging with more of it.

KIDOGO provides a single place parents and children can go to find a range of local content to keep young ones entertained. Local stories and songs reflect our kiwi humour, te reo Māori, values and familiar places, and are often educational.

What will I find on KIDOGO?

KIDOGO is a curated collection of quality local stories and songs for pre-school and primary school aged children. There are two channels - KIDOGO - which is for primary aged children and KIDOGO Junior - which is for pre-schoolers.

KIDOGO has titles such as My Favourite Dead Person, Bird’s Eye View, Fresh Fairytales, The Exceptional Squad, Junior Dog Handlers, Let’s Get Inventin’, Life Savers and Life On Ben

KIDOGO Junior has titles such as Kiri and Lou,Buzz’s Epic Little Missions, Toi Time and Kiwi and Cat: Mānawatia a Matariki. Plus lots of beautiful, fun and educational kids’ music.

Both channels have new content being added every week. The content is all also available, or has all been available recently on a local platform like TVNZ, Three, Sky, Whakaata Māori or RNZ.

Where do I find KIDOGO?

The KIDOGO channels can be enjoyed on YouTube Kids (which we recommend as the safest experience for younger viewers) or on YouTube main. We recommend subscribing to the channel so that it's always easy to find.

Is it a safe place for our tamariki?

We’ve done everything we can to make it a safe space, but it’s up to parents to use the safety settings available on YouTube. For our part we have made sure the content is age appropriate and we’ve tagged it as “made for kids”. This means that YouTube treats it as kids content and will be careful not to put any ads next to the content that are inappropriate.

To be really safe you should use the YouTube Kids app. This has the safest viewing experience for kids. If your child is using the main YouTube platform, please take the time to find out how to set up the ‘supervised experience’ found under parental controls.  Be aware that if your child is using YouTube on your account, or on no account (i.e. not logged in), they are vulnerable to seeing potentially unsuitable content.

How do I get my content onto KIDOGO?

Content funded by NZ On Air or Te Māngai Pāho for children may be suitable for KIDOGO or KIDOGO Junior.

We've appointed Rogue Productions to run the channels. To find out more about becoming part of KIDOGO email Hello@kidogo.co.nz to request the Content Creators' Guide. They will also be able to walk you through the options and what's needed.

It's important to note that KIDOGO is not a commissioning platform. Your content must be commissioned by one of our recognised local platforms (if screen content). Once any exclusive rights have expired it can then go onto KIDOGO.
