Te Kaupapa o Rōpu Pūtea | About the Funding Team

The Funding Team works closely with the local media sector, regularly connects with stakeholders around funding policy, deals with funding applications, assessments and monitors funded projects.

This newly created position provides us with an opportunity to grow our funding team and to better engage with our priority communities.

Koronga o te Kaupapa | Purpose of this role

Based either in Tāmaki Makaurau or Te Whanganui ā Tara, you’ll be part of a team of funding advisors who work closely with the production sector across online, radio, and television content as well as industry training initiatives. You will join a vibrant, innovative team that is passionate about serving the audiences of Aotearoa, is high-functioning and extremely collaborative, with each team member possessing a unique area of expertise.

The role will include assessing applications for funding, analysing applications against our Investment Strategy, writing high-quality recommendations and working closely with the screen production sector to understand its challenges and opportunities.

Ko ōhou pūmanawa | What you bring

You will possess a unique set of skills and qualities that will enable you to contribute to NZ On Air’s funding investment mahi.

We are seeking candidates with significant relevant experience in screen media production (including, Scripted or Non-Fiction production or both), who are looking to take the step into a funding agency.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of NZ On Air’s priority audiences. You will be able to contribute to developing equitable funding processes.

You will have excellent communication skills, with an ability to connect with communities in an appropriate and authentic way. You will also possess a high level of cultural intelligence and demonstrate respect for diverse perspectives, navigating cultural differences with empathy and adapting your approach to suit various situations.

You will be committed to NZ On Air’s legislative mandate to promote te reo Māori and Māori culture and be comfortable incorporating Te Tiriti principles in all areas of your work in line with the organisation’s growing cultural awareness and understanding. You will also bring a demonstrated understanding of the workings, dynamics and politics of the New Zealand media industry.
