Quality programmes with something important to say about New Zealand

The Platinum Fund is a special contestable fund of over $15million. It supports quality content which may be currently difficult to find on our screens, or which requires a high level of public investment to get made.

Overview

Platinum Fund programmes aim to inform, educate and entertain a good cross-section of New Zealand. Where possible, we prefer a prime time broadcast so programmes have the best chance of reaching a wide audience.

We give priority to:

  • high-end one-off drama programmes or drama mini-series
  • long-form, appealing documentaries on New Zealand subjects of cultural, historical or artistic importance
  • research-driven short documentary series on issues or topics important to New Zealanders
  • specialist current affairs programmes (long-form interview or investigative formats preferred)

The annual budget for Platinum Fund programmes is $15million for programming across a range of genre.
