We celebrate local creativity and success by supporting programmes featuring dance, music, fashion, sport and art. We also support programmes that commemorate events of national importance.
Our funding puts a diverse and innovative range of creative New Zealanders on television. It also allows national events such as Anzac Day commemorations to be seen by a wide audience. Funding in this genre covers a range of content from one-off performances and documentary series on New Zealand artists to live coverage of an event or competitions that give talented New Zealanders a national audience.
Some of the programmes we support in this genre can be very expensive to produce. Funding is only approved when it is clear they won’t be made without assistance.
Annually we spend around $2million on Arts, Culture and Performance programmes from the General and Platinum contestable funds.
