The Secret Lives of Dancers

Want to know what happens after the curtain goes down? The Secret Lives Of Dancers gives a peek into the lives of dancers in the Royal New Zealand Ballet.

The Secret Lives of Dances aired for a third season in 2014. The eight-part The Secret Lives of Dancers is funded under our Arts, Culture and Performance strand. The series follows Royal New Zealand Ballet Company dancers as they rehearse and perform on national and international stages.

In the third season, the Royal New Zealand Ballet headed over to China for its first international tour since 2011. Following the tour, the dancers start auditioning and preparing for their next project, the famous Swan Lake. With 32 talented dancers in the company, the competition is high and limits are stretched.

This high-quality reality TV series has been like stepping into one of those corny pictures of Sleeping Beauty every little girl had on her wall back in the day. I wonder how many ballet schools have experienced fuller classes since The Secret Lives of Dancers went to air.
