Decades In Colour

The latest series from the NZ On Air Platinum Fund which takes you on a nostalgic journey back to the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.

Wind back to when a video wasn’t captured on a smart phone, and breaking news wasn’t a notification on your web browser. The production team at Greenstone TV have searched through old attics and dusty garages to sift out the best home video footage of how life was for everyday New Zealanders from the 1950’s to the 1970’s.

Narrated by Judy Bailey, a child of the 1950’s, Decades In Colour will indulge our interest in nostalgia. Whether you lived in these decades or just follow the fashion trends from back then, this series has something for you.

Over three episodes, Decades In Colour examines how these important decades helped shape New Zealand’s identity. From the times when milk was delivered in glass bottles to summer caravan holidays, from the hysteria of The Beatles, Sir Ed conquering Mount Everest, and The Baby Boom, to the shocks of the Wahine disaster, the Vietnam War and oil crisis. These were important decades in shaping the history of New Zealand.

Will you be reminiscing, or taking a history lesson? Tune into Decades In Colour for a look at how things were ‘back in the day’.

This series is proudly funded through the NZ On Air Platinum Fund, which supports content that informs, educates and entertains a wide local audience.
