Strategy Papers

In line with its five-year strategic plan (2003 - 2008), the Board of NZ On Air has been examining all of its areas of interest to assess whether its actions in each area are still relevant and, if so, how outcomes can be improved.

The following papers present NZ On Air strategies in a variety of television areas, in line with the broad strategic direction of NZ On Air. They have been drafted following symposia and consultation, and in light of subsequent feedback and discussion.

This paper presents the NZ On Air Documentary Strategy revised in 2003.

Space For The New Strategy Paper (October 2003) [PDF DOWNLOAD 119KB]

This paper updates NZ On Air's Children's Funding Strategy. It was first published in 2003.

Kick-start: Models for International Marketing (July 2002) [PDF DOWNLOAD 80KB]

A discussion paper entitled Making and Marketing New Zealand Television Programmes was presented at industry seminars in December 2001. Much of that paper became NZ On Air policy on 1 January 2002.

Making and Marketing Television (January 2002) [PDF DOWNLOAD 40KB]

A discussion paper summarising a proposed new approach to NZ On Air's financial assessment of projects. The paper also proposes new approaches to our equity position in projects and to project development, including marketing.

Drama Strategy (August 2000) [PDF DOWNLOAD 52KB]

NZ On Air's drama strategy provides broadcasters and producers with an understanding of NZ On Air's objectives for locally made drama programming on television.

Children's Programming Strategy (June 2000) [PDF DOWNLOAD 34KB]

In June 2000, NZ On Air put forward a paper indicating its objectives for children's programming, and a strategy for achieving them. The paper identifies NZ On Air's specific children's programming objectives and strategies for achieving these. It culminates in a series of action points.
