The information on this page relates to funding applications for both Scripted and Factual content.
To apply for funding you must first register as an applicant using our online applications system, Eric. Registered applicants can manage applications through their personal dashboard, nominate supporting platforms, and update business information. Applications not submitted through Eric will not be considered.
We have five funding rounds a year. All deadlines are now 4pm on the date stated.

Before you apply, please be familiar with our strategy for investing, outlined in the NZ Media Fund strategy document, and our high level goals set out in the Statement of Intent and Statement of Performance Expectations.

So we can be as fair and transparent as possible, we assess proposals using a tough, comparative process based on our strategy and current priorities. Please look at the two template assessment documents to see how we will evaluate your proposal.
Applications for the March 2018 round open on 23 November. This round is a limited round as we have only a small amount of funding available following the December round.

Applications are now open for the Canada - New Zealand Digital Media Fund.
For this round we are specifically seeking projects that target an audience of children aged 12 and under, with a particular focus for children between 5 to 9 years old.

Development funding is for researching or writing scripts or treatments. We mostly contribute to drama; and occasionally to documentary development.

At the end of 2016, to extend the range of scripted drama and comedy development projects we revised our development criteria to provide a pathway for a limited number of eligible projects to access first-stage development funding without the support of a platform. Please read more about the Diverse Development Initiative below.
From time to time, if we have detected a gap in content, we may go to the market to seek the content we require. In these cases we issue a Request For Proposals (RFP).
There is one current RFP seeking applications to make digital content for children in co-production with Canada. It closes 18 January 2018.
