A virtual island homeland brings life to digital Pacific content.
NZ On Air’s digital funding is aimed at audiences who are less well served by mainstream broadcast media. Digital media allows us to reach these audiences directly, so we support projects and content that would be unlikely to air on broadcast television.
In 2012-2013 NZ On Air focused on Pacific audiences after research into Pacific broadcast programming, holding a Pacific forum and developing a Pacific Content Strategy. Aligned with the Pacific Content Strategy, the Digital Media Fund Kickstart prioritised projects in 2013 with outcomes for Pacific audiences.
TheCoconet.tv has helped to address major gaps in Pacific Island content available both online or through broadcast television. The site seeks to reconnect Pacific youth with their culture through music and video as well as blogs, and interactive and informative content.
TheCoconet.tv is funded through DMF Kickstart.
