We provide operating funding to a number of specially targeted platforms and services to create and deliver audio/visual public media content of particular cultural and social value.
The Platforms stream is a closed fund. We do not accept unsolicited applications and will rarely fund new platforms.

With the exception of RNZ, which has its funding set by Ministers, all other funded platforms and services must submit annual funding applications.

The Platforms funding stream is a closed fund for existing funded entities who deliver services to create and deliver audio/visual public media content of particular cultural or social value. Applications for new platforms will not be considered.

Platform funding applications must be made to the May 2018 round, which opens on 15 February and closes 22 March at 4pm.

A total revamp of the funding model was a major achievement for NZ On Air in 2016/17 as reported in the NZ On Air Annual Report, just tabled in Parliament.
NZ On Air has today released details of its plans to deliver great New Zealand content to New Zealand audiences over the coming four years in its new Statement of Intent.
NZ On Air will adopt a new single strategy and single media fund from July 1 2017, after receiving overwhelming support for the new approach from stakeholders.
