NZ On Air's Role

NZ On Air's role is to maintain and, where appropriate, extend the coverage of sound broadcasting to New Zealand communities that would not otherwise receive a commercially viable signal.

In deciding whether to allocate funds for the maintenance or extension of transmission coverage, NZ On Air must take into account the extent of any benefit to householders in the coverage area, in relation to the cost of the proposed project.

NZ On Air has allocated $90,000 to transmission coverage services in 2004/2005.
