Access radio stations enable groups to produce and broadcast programmes for their own regions and communities. We fund eleven very different Access radio stations. The amount of funding to each station is based on tiers that reflect the size of the potential audience. These are:

We fund three dedicated Pacific radio stations - Niu FM in Auckland and nationwide, 531pi in Auckland and Samoa Capital Radio in Wellington.
We fund the Radio Reading Service in Levin.
The Māori broadcasting funding agency Te Māngai Pāho funds the 21 Māori radio stations across the country.
We fund special programmes to screen on eligible regional channels. Our current priorities are local news and information programmes.
